Shadow II ULG+ Patio Heaters

Shadow II is the first heater of a new generation of outdoor infrared patio heaters from the Shadow brand at Heat Outdoors. It has a newly designed slimline anodised aluminium body with an enhanced internal reflector design to project more heat more evenly across an area than any shadow which has come before it.

This new lineage of outdoor heaters is a world first appearance for the revolution in infrared lamp technology, ULG+. It has an IR module and comes with IR remote control with variable heat settings to provide ultimate control and comfort from the ULG+ short-wave infrared lamp.

What is ULG+?

ULG+ is the greatest innovation in ultra low glare lamp technology in many years, it’s by far the lowest light level short-wave infrared lamp we have ever developed. Currently Available in 1.5kW, 2kW and 3kW variants in black or silver, ULG+ technology offers more heat per kW of energy than any infrared lamp available. ULG+ not only functions with a revolutionary new level of performance for short-wave infrared, it looks absolutely incredible from the moment you switch it on.

The lamp is uniquely characterized by a captivating irregular coiling pattern within the lamp itself and sensual. It outputs a sensational orange glowing heat inspired by Olafur Eliasson’s, The Weather Project. We wanted to pioneer a completely new level of heat output with an optimum level of soothing light and colour. So important when enjoying your space outdoors. Our 1.5kW and 2kW models support one bulb, whilst the 3kW houses 2 bulbs.

• The heater must be mounted in a well ventilated area. There must be at least a 0.25m clearing between the heater and ceilings / roofs
• There must be at least a 0.5m clearing between the heater and adjacent walls / fabrics
• There must be at least a 1.8m clearing between the bottom edge of the heater and the floor

The Shadow II is our most versatile heater yet, it not only comes with the ‘L’ wall-mounting bracket and horizontal swivel which enables the heater to be mounted horizontally on a stand on attached to a wall. Our vertical mount bracket (sold separately) enables these exciting new heaters to be mounted horizontally or turned vertically on any of our heater stands or when wall-mounted.

What makes vertical mounting so unique?

Infrared heat lamps are a finely engineered phenomenon and not all infrared lamps can be used perpendicular to the ground. As the coil in the lamp heats up, naturally expansion and changing in shape occurs. This in turn causes undue pressure and subsequent failure of the lamp in many types of infrared lamp. With ULG+ and most of our ULG lamps now available, they feature patented glass technology to counteract the expansion of the oil and enable full vertical mounting of our best heaters yet.

Vertical mounting is a fantastic way of projecting a deeper gradient of infrared heat across an area. Combined with the horizontal (vertical now in this case) swivel, the heater can be rotating around its vertical axis to further customize the projection of heat.

Parasol Mounting

New to the Shadow brand is our parasol mounting bracket, at last this functional bracket gives the added flexibility our customers have always wanted. The bracket attaches to the horizontal swivel, ‘L’ shaped or vertical mounting bracket to provide an array of options for fixing Shadow heaters to parasol frames and fixed structures.
